What the Rav said:
A person has confusions and distractions. He can’t focus, he can’t even see the letters.
This is very different to someone who has a clear and clean mind.
In the end, the one who has all the confusions will achieve a clear and pure mind far greater than the person who had a clean and pure mind to start with.
On account of his suffering and his struggle to focus and to pay attention and his prayers, and all his efforts to focus.
This is something completely different. All the more so, according to the amount of confusion and obstacles he has to face.
My thoughts:
The Rav is continually telling us not to despair.
The fact that we find it hard, difficult, impossible! to learn, to pray, to guard our eyes…
The message is keep going. You’re right, it may seem that some other people can do all of this without blinking. But, even if that is true, the Rav is telling us, keep going!
Hashem knows that it’s difficult for you. Hashem knows that you’re finding it impossible
But, keep going. In the end, all your efforts will be truly rewarded.
